School visits

Leighton House Museum provides:

  • An artist's beautiful decorated studio house with opportunities to see wonderful treasures including Islamic Art
  • Stories and Literature through the ages, using often classically based paintings as a source
  • A place to study a famous local artist in history, Lord Leighton was President of the Royal Academy and host to Queen Victoria

 

DIRECTED SESSIONS WITH A LEARNING OFFICER

KS 1 - 4, GCSE and A level.

All visits will be appropriate for the Key stage of your pupils.  The sessions will encourage visual awareness, language and vocabulary skills through dialogue, and analysis.

  • A standard visit will include a short tour of the house including its history. Pupils can draw and record from the wonderfully decorated rooms
  • Appropriate work sheets and materials will be available. If requested in advance pupils can draw on easels in Lord Leighton's studio
  • During the Exhibitions in the House, the special works on show will be explained to the pupils by the learning officer
  • All sessions can be adapted to your individual needs for school projects. Please just ask for details

£65 per class – Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) funded schools

£90 per class – Non-RBKC – schools not funded by Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

 

SELF GUIDED VISITS

Teachers can bring their own classes for a self guided visit, perhaps to draw or record the house; they should also book the visit in advance.

£55 per class - Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) funded schools

£65 per class - Non-RBKC - schools not funded by Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
