Nature Photography Competition 2019

Nature Photography Competition 2019

Welcome to the Ecology Service’s Nature Photography Competition 2019

We want you to help us celebrate the nature and biodiversity of the Royal Borough by sending us your best photos of the Boroughs wildlife you encounter over the summer.

We want you to explore the many places where you can find wildlife, whether that’s on your doorstep, in your local park or green space, in your garden, on your balcony or on the street.

We are looking for interesting photos of the animals and plants that make the Royal Borough their home.

All levels of amateur photography are welcome, whether you want to use your mobile phone or a professional camera, whether you’re new to photography or a budding snapper we want you to send us your nature snaps from around the Borough and you could win a prize and be part of an exhibition.

Submit your entry form and photos

The competition will run from Monday 22 July to Saturday 31 August 2019 and is open to everyone living in the Royal Borough, so get snapping.

Adult Competition Information

Open to anyone aged 18 or over, living in the Royal Borough.

There are three categories in the adult competition:

  • Plants and Fungi: In this category we are looking for entries that reveal the beauty of the wild plants or fungi that live in the parks and green spaces of the Royal Borough. Photographs in this category could also make use of the structural and textural qualities of these living things to create more abstract images.
  • Animals: A huge range of wild animals make their home in the Royal Borough, from tiny insects to larger mammals such as foxes. Here we are looking for photos which capture a moment in the life of these animals, showing their behaviour or portray them in their habitat.
  • Urban Wildlife: In this category we would like to see entries that show nature thriving in the built environment, or surprising examples of wildlife co-existing with people.

Photographs must be taken within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. There will be prizes for the winner of each category and an overall prize for the best photograph in the competition.

Junior Competition Information

Open to anyone under the age of 18, living in the Royal Borough.

There are two age groups in the junior competition:

  • Under 12s
  • 12–17 year olds

Photographs must be taken within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. There will be prizes for the winner of each category and an overall prize for the best photograph in the competition. Junior prize winners will also earn a prize for their school.
