Big Schools' Birdwatch

Working in partnership with RSPB, we are offering fun and informative bird-themed education sessions to help your school prepare for the Big Schools’ Birdwatch.

Choose from:

  • a visit to the Ecology Centre - practice identification skills though a bird call game and use of binoculars, and make feeders to put up at school to attract birds ready for your bird count (1.5 hour session)
  • an in-school assembly or lesson - learn to identify common birds and find out what you can do to help attract them to your school grounds.

For more information or to book please phone the Ecology Centre on 020 7938 8186 or email ecology.centre@rbkc.gov.uk.

Schools outreach officers from RSPB will then lead a free outreach session in your school during January or February where using ID guides and binoculars, your pupils will identify and record the birds we spot around the school as part of the Big Schools' Birdwatch.  To book your session please fill out a form at https://www.rspb.org.uk/forprofessionals/teachers/outreach/

You’ll also need to register on the RSPB website to receive free Big Schools’ Birdwatch resources and submit your results.  http://www.rspb.org.uk/discoverandenjoynature/discoverandlearn/schoolswatch/
