St Mary Abbot's Church and lock up

This drawing by J Chatelain c. 1750 is entitled 'South east view of Kensington Church' and shows the medieval church before the west tower was rebuilt. The small building on the right was the parish lockup. By 1866 the church was declared unsafe and Sir George Gilbert Scott was appointed as architect. The old church was demolished in 1869 and the new gothic church consecrated in 1872.
