The Council’s Environment Strategy 2006 – 2011 builds on the achievements of successive Environmental Policy Statements but is more ambitious.
It presents an opportunity for the Council to stretch its performance on environmental improvement and sustainability. It also engages the community more than ever before with many actions in the 2006–2007 action plan specifically geared towards borough residents, businesses and visitors.
Nottingham Declaration
The Council has joined 160 other local authorities in signing the Nottingham Declaration. Read the press release Council signs green declaration.
The 6th Environmental Policy Statement, 2003 – 2006, has now handed over to the new Environment Strategy (see above).
To mark the many and varied achievements of the 6th Environmental Policy Statement a ‘Final Review 2003 – 2006’ will soon be posted on this page, including a highlights report for quick reference.
For now, you can view the interim review (published in summer 2005).

The Strategy and Service Development Division of Environmental Services is responsible for co-ordinating the development and implementation of the Environment Strategy. We also monitor progress towards achieving the environmental actions contained within the strategy.
The Division is also the Council's information resource on broader concepts such as Local Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development.
