Rules for attending a course
Any person attending a course must be given time and help:
- to prepare for the course
- do home work as necessary
- implement the theory they will learn
A person who is tired or who has just come off shift, or is expected to go on shift at the end of the training day will not get the most out of a course.
People must not be made to attend safety courses in their own time (that is annual leave, or rest day). See the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 for further information.
Candidates should also:
- discuss with their managers what they are to get out of the course and how they are to put into practice what they have been taught
- turn up at least ten minutes before scheduled start time of the course
- turn off mobile phones whilst in the training room
