Consultation

Can we see images of what the new library will look like?

BDP architects are currently working on the detailed proposals, which, will be on exhibition in the Central Library before the planning application is submitted. The exhibition is likely to be scheduled for early September.

In addition information will be available on the council's website www.rbkc.gov.uk and newsletters will be published at key points in the programme.

We will also be putting up posters in the Central Library informing people about the progress of the plans. More consultation will follow once the detailed designs have been developed.

We are keen to keep the current users and interested residents fully informed about our plans and the progress of the work.

If you have any views please feel free to email them to library.refurbishment@rbkc.gov.uk

Will current users be able to comment on the proposals and will their views actually be able to change anything?

Yes - the whole project is aimed at improving the experience for our users, so obviously their views need to be listened to carefully. This will include proper feedback mechanisms which will be taken into account by the architects and others when developing their detailed plans. Many people have completed questionnaires about the proposed refurbishment and attended focus groups. If you have any views please email library.refurbishment@rbkc.gov.uk

When will the planning application be submitted?

The Library service is currently planning to submit the detailed planning application in October 2008. It is expected that a decision on the planning application will be made at the end of the year or early next year.
