About Council Tax and Business Rate

The Royal Borough collects Council Tax and Business Rate on properties within its area.

As at 1 April 2008:

• Council Tax is payable on 86,083 domestic properties
• Business Rate is payable on 7,980 non-domestic properties

The amount of Council Tax is set annually by the Council. The amount of Business Rates is set annually by Central Government.

Revenue from Council Tax is also used to help fund the Greater London Authority.
