Across the road from the Chelsea Town Hall, on the corner of the busy Kings Road and Dovehouse Street, lies this often overlooked green space. Here you can to stop and sit among the trees and spring daffodils and watch the world go by. Sir Hans Sloane gave it to the parish of Chelsea in 1733 for use as a burial ground. The Green was first known as the Old Burial Ground and was consecrated in 1736. Managed by the Royal Borough, it was recently refurbished in 2003 to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. Prior to this, the Green was refurbished in 1977 to celebrate the Queen’s Silver Jubilee.
