The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is pleased to submit our Implementing Electronic Government return for the 31 March 2006.
The return shows that we have achieved 100 per cent electronic service delivery by the end of 2005 as well as achievement of 46 of the 54 priority outcomes.
While we have achieved excellence in our CPA assessment, we recognise that we are working to changing standards and that in order to continue improving, well-managed change is essential. In fact our next goal is to become excellent at managing change.
Although the e-Government programme has now drawn to close, we do not see this as the end of the process. On the contrary, to paraphrase Winston Churchill, this is merely the end of the beginning.
Technology continues to change what it is possible to achieve in terms of efficiency, access to information on services and the level of customer service and convenience. We will continue to embrace change provided that there is always a good business case to underpin and justify the change.
Our ‘Improving the Customer Experience’ programme continues to show real benefits for our customers. Work is progressing well on a unified Customer Contact Centre that will dramatically enhance the experience of personal callers to the Council.
Providing efficient services has always been a key priority for The Council and we have embraced the change in emphasis from e-Government to the efficiency agenda, enabled by the good use of Information Technology.
