Learning for life

As a Council we want to ensure that you can aspire to learn and achieve high standards - whether you are doing this to gain employment or to further your personal development.

Our commitment to education and learning will give you and everyone a chance to improve your well-being, widen your horizons and enrich our community.

To achieve this we will:

  • Raise educational standards and achievement
  • Increase accessibility to and participation in learning and development, particularly for those at risk of underachievement and social exclusion
  • Ensure that our schools and children's centres are effective community resources that support current and future national education and children's services initiatives

Education Finances

English as an additional language

We've developed curriculum initiatives for EAL learners 14 - 19 years who are at the early stages of learning English. Go to EAL Curriculum Initiatives
