Earlier this year the Council signed the Nottingham Declaration and committed itself to cutting carbon emissions. To help local residents and others to reduce their carbon emissions, the Council is now providing charging points for electric vehicles in the Kensington Town Hall Car Park, in Hornton Street.
Note: Electric vehicles, for charging purposes, are defined as wholly electric cars and mopeds. The discount does not apply to hybrid vehicles.
No, membership is not required.

You may park for free in the charge bays for a maximum of three hours. During this period a * fee of £1 will be applied to cover electricity. Normal tariffs apply thereafter. For a list of the tariffs see below:

No. On street parking concessions are not envisaged. This is because, although electric cars produce no emissions at the point of use, they still require considerable CO2 production (by way of electricity generation) and take up road space.
In the hierarchy of sustainable modes of transport, the Council believes that walking, cycling and public transport, for example, are more efficient and sustainable.
Though the Council will not be providing electric vehicle users with on-street electric charging, we are monitoring trials in other parts of London.
If the charging points in the Town Hall car park are successful, the Council will aim to provide similar facilities at other car parks in the Borough.
Bays are provided on a first come first served basis.
A flat fee of £1 will be applied during your stay to cover electricity.
You may park for free in the charge bays for a maximum of 3 hours. Normal tariffs apply thereafter (please see tariff notices in bays).
Discounted tariffs for electrically propelled vehicles do not apply when parked in any other part of the car park. Electric vehicles parked in any other part of the car park will not receive a discount.
Important: Electric vehicles, for charging purposes, are defined as wholly electric cars and mopeds. The discount does not apply to hybrid vehicles. Vehicles are deemed wholly electric if they can be plugged in and charged. However if the attendant is not sure a vehicle is electric you may be asked to show that your car has a socket instead of a fuel tank.
