Advanced Certificate in Health and Safety at Work

What does it teach?

This course is accredited by Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and covers health and safety management including:

  • the setting up or monitoring and auditing programmes
  • providing health and safety training
  • complying with the relevant laws

What does it cost?

What are the minimum requirements?

You must have a Foundation Certificate in Health and Safety before you come on this course.

How long does it last?

It lasts five days. In addition there are two assignments and a three hour exam.

Important: You are required to attend for at least 80 per cent of the course.

Who should attend?

Managers, supervisors and potential trainers.

What subjects covered?

The course covers the following subjects:

  • general safety and health
  • workplace safety
  • safe systems
  • occupational health
  • occupational hygiene
  • safety management
  • legislation
  • education and training
  • risk assessment

Is there an assessment at the end of the course?

Yes, at the end of the course there are two assignments and approximately ten weeks after the course there is a three hour written exam. The dates for this are set by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
