Recycling your Christmas tree
If you have a real Christmas tree, the most environmentally
conscious way to dispose of it is to compost it. If you can’t
compost your Christmas tree yourself, the Council can help.
From 3 January to 16 January 2012 we will collect used
Christmas trees to be shredded and turned into compost.
Christmas tree collection dates are different to those for your
normal recycling and refuse collection, and a specific crew will
collect your tree from your home.
If you are already registered for garden waste collections, your
Christmas tree will be collected on the same day as your garden
waste. To find out which day Christmas trees will be collected in
your street (whether or not you are registered with the garden
waste service) please see the Garden waste collection
calendar [PDF] (file size 80Kb)
You can also call Streetline on: 020 7361 3001 for
collection dates on your street.
Please put your tree out for collection alongside your garden
waste bag, at the boundary of your property (so that it is visible
from the kerb). Please remove pots and decorations.
