Vehicle banding for parking permits
Parking permit charges are based on the vehicle's CO2
emissions or the vehicle’s engine capacity indicated at the time of
the vehicle registration.
Refer to your V5C vehicle registration certificate for
the date of first registration.
Vehicles registered before 1 March 2001
Vehicles registered before 1 March 2001 will be detailed with
the cylinder capacity (cc) of the engine. (This information can be
found on the V5C vehicle registration certificate under section 4,
reference P.1)
Vehicles registered on or after 1 March 2001
Vehicles registered on or after 1 March 2001 will be detailed
with the Carbon dioxide (CO2)(g/km) gas emissions of the vehicle’s
engine. (This information can be found on the V5C vehicle
registration certificate under section 4, reference V.7)
Proof of vehicle emissions or engine capacity
You will need to provide your V5C vehicle
registration certificate as proof of your CO2 emissions
or engine capacity.
If the vehicle is a company or hire car, and you are unable to
provide a copy of the V5C certificate, you will need a letter from
the lease/hire company confirming the vehicle emissions.
If you cannot provide proof of vehicle emissions or engine
capacity, we can issue you with a one month permit at a set rate of
£31 to give you time to obtain the relevant documentation. This
amount will be off-set against the balance of the annual charge
when you provide the necessary proof.
Diesel vehicles
There is an extra charge for diesel
fuelled vehicles.
Diesel vehicles that comply with the new
Euro 5 emission standard are exempt from the surcharge.
