Private street services

If you want to arrange cleansing, sweeping or lighting for a private street please phone 020 7341 5106 or email private.streets@rbkc.gov.uk. Calls may be recorded for security or training purposes

If arrangements are already in place for the cleansing, sweeping or lighting for your private street and there is a problem with these services, please phone 020 7361 3001 or email private.streets@rbkc.gov.uk.

Street Sweeping

Our Charter to you

  • a good standard of street cleanliness will be maintained between the hours of:
    8am to 8pm residential streets
    8am to 11pm shopping areas and other busy streets
    24 hours per day main shopping streets
  • all litter, dog mess, and autumn leaves will be removed
  • all fly tipped materials will be removed, where possible, on the day of notification and in any case within 24 hours
  • all litter bins will be emptied once a day and in main shopping streets, three times a day
  • all major events, such as the Notting Hill Carnival, will receive special intensive cleaning

Winter maintenance

Gritting of roads and pavements

The Waste Management department is responsible for gritting public roads and pavements during adverse weather conditions. Gritting routes are prioritised with main roads and vulnerable points being attended to first. Vulnerable points include pedestrian crossings, access to schools and social services properties.
