Changes to the layout Flagship House
At the start of the project, the property contained 23 bedsits, (Glossary Term)
many of which did not meet the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s space criteria for Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and all of which were in poor condition, with significant damp and mould problems.
A new top floor has been added to the house – providing three more bedsits available for rent. This was approved by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s Planning Department as similar work had already been carried out on other properties in the same street, providing precedent for planning permission.
The addition of a new storey meant that a new roof could be added, highly insulated in compliance with the Building Regulations.
