Wireless hotspot
We now offer wireless connection to the internet at broadband
speeds, called Hotspots at four of our Libraries.
This is in addition to the dedicated public computers, the People's
Network, we offer at all our libraries.
Who can use this service?
Anyone can! You do not need to be a member of the library, and
will not be required to join. You will be required to register with
the Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) on your first time,
but this only takes a minute or so and then you are able to start
using the service.
What do I need to use this service?
You will need to have a device which is Wi-fi enabled. This
means it has the hardware and software necessary to connect to
wireless networks.
Where can I find these Hotspots?
We have four libraries currently offering this service; please
click on the library of your choice below to find details of its
location and opening hours.
What can I do once I am connected?
You can surf the internet, send and receive e-mails and download
files. Use of the internet is subject to an Acceptable Use
Policy, copies of which are available in the Library or
you can download a copy below.
What additional facilities are there?
Where possible we provide a place where you can sit at a desk
for those using a laptop. We also have a limited
number of designated and specially protected power outlets
where you may charge your device whilst using it.
It is not possible at present to print from the wireless
network. You can however print from one of our People's Network
computers. You will need to save your files for printing (for
example, onto a CD or memory stick) in order to transfer them to an
available People's Network PC.
You will be charged per page for any printing you
do.
Do you offer support for this service?
We will try our best, however it is not possible for our staff
to offer expert advice relating to particular devices or problems
with connection. We have a basic guide to connection, registration
and some common problems. If these do not help, you can contact
Regenerate IT, our provider, on 020 8423 2244.
