We follow a number of book awards within the libraries. This ensures we have copies of the winners, and we also discuss them at reading group meetings.

    Abstract: Book Break is a reading group with a difference, we read to you. We meet every week at the same time to listen to good literature read aloud. We share a cup of tea and biscuits as well as our responses to what is being read.

  • Burying London-Touring Exhibition, 1 June 2009 to 24 July 2009
    Abstract: The Library service,working in partnership with the Houses of Parliament Parliamentary Outreach Team, has put together a touring exhibition that combines parliamentary resources and Local Studies and archives resources.
    The exhibition is called `Burying London'. It highlights the role of the local community in petitioning parliament for the creation of public cemeteries at Brompton and Kensal Green.

    Abstract: This month we will be discussing "Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad
  • Juliet Pickering - How to get published, 15 July 2009
    Abstract: Juliet Pickering is a literary agent with A P Watt, the oldest literary agency in the world. She will be discussing the publishing process and current publishing trends in the UK. Juliet will also talk about the role of a literary agent, why an agent is necessary, and how to go about getting one yourself. The talk will be followed by a question and answer session.

  • Meet Jack Llewellyn, 21 July 2009
    Abstract: Jack Llewellyn is the author of Surviving Addictions: Confessions of a Recovered Addict. He will be talking about his book which describes, with great candour, his slippery descent into addiction to sex as well as alcohol and drugs, and his subsequent liberation from total dependency and looming death.
