The world famous, award winning Encyclopaedia Britannica is now available online in the Borough's Libraries. Britannica has been a comprehensive and authoritative reference resource for 230 years. It contains:

  • 118,000 articles,
  • 22,000 images,
  • 24,000 biographies and
  • 2,000 video clips

Containing five databases, it can be searched as one unit or as individual titles. It includes:

  • The student encyclopaedia,
  • Internet guide, dictionary and thesaurus,
  • Book of the year and
  • A world atlas.

From animals to animation, rainforests to the holocaust you can find material suitable for all age groups.

Britannica has spotlight features with in depth coverage of topics, study guides, charts, tables, maps and graphics.

Each article can be searched alphabetically or by keyword and contains a citation to help you with additional research.

You can save, cut and paste, print, or email articles directly from the screen.
