Life Events

Life is made up of many events. These pages contain links to practical information from the Council and other organisations to help you make decisions about some of the life events that you may face.

Moving to or within the Royal Borough Information about housing, Council Tax, Parking Permits, Council services, and local utility companies, your local Councillors and how to vote.
Working life Information about starting your own business as well as employment opportunities in the Royal Borough.
Dealing with an emergency Details of the main emergency services in the Royal Borough as well as links to the Council's emergency plans.
Young adults Details of further education opportunities and vocational work placements.
Getting married / Forming a civil partnership Details of wedding venues in the Royal Borough and information on how to register a marriage and form a civil partnership.
Being a parent⁄carer Information on registering a birth, adoption and fostering, sending your children to school, as well as details of support groups and organisations and leisure facilities.
Retirement and pensions Information on services for people who are retired or collecting a pension, including activity groups
Looking after yourself or caring for someone Information on general health matters and support for those dealing with disabilities, cancer, HIV⁄Aids, Mental health, and the elderly.
Death and bereavement Information and support for those who have lost loved ones, including how to register a death.
Times of Trouble Help if you or one of your family members if they are experiencing a problem in their life, such as drugs, gambling, financial problems, relationship problems.
Learning to drive Information on how to learn to drive, and driving standards.
Dealing with crime Information on reporting crime and organisations to help you if you become a victim.
