The Parks Police Service started on 1 November 1991. It currently consists of:
Apart from policing Holland Park, which is where they are based, the Service polices 24 other parks and open spaces within the Royal Borough and two cemeteries outside the Borough at Hanwell and Gunnersbury.
The Service's mobile patrol regularly monitors the outer parks and open spaces.
Officers in the Service are attested as constables at a local magistrates court and have a statutory duty to preserve the peace and to protect Her Majesty's citizens and their property within their jurisdiction.
The Service's main function is to enforce the Bye-Laws and regulations applying to parks and open spaces in the Royal Borough. The service also enforces Common law and Criminal Law to maintain order and to prevent anti-social behaviour.
The Service is also the first response in any major emergency incident occurring within the Borough and has full responsibility for the CCTV network covering the Royal Borough.
Public Information Days are held regularly in Holland Park and some of the outer parks. For more information see Events.
If you have any views or comments regarding the policing of the parks and open spaces please ask for a comment form from the Parks Police.
