Services to Schools, Parents and Carers

Our services work closely with schools to promote:

• inclusive education and high achievement for all pupils
• access to education for pupils with additional needs
• the identification and removal of barriers to learning
• the full participation of pupils with additional needs.
• pupils’ safety and emotional well-being, learning and participation in education and their positive contribution to school and the community.

Some aspects of our work are universal including preventative work to reduce the incidence and severity of children’s needs. Other work is targeted and enables the Council to meet statutory responsibilities for excluded pupils, ethnic minority pupils and those with special needs. We contribute to strategic developments in relation to vulnerable pupils and to professional development on inclusion.
