Last Summer the Royal Borough's Planning Services and Transportation and Highways Departments jointly commissioned consultants Building Design Partnership (BDP) and Urban Space Management (USM) to carry out a study on the future of Golborne Road in North Kensington.
The brief they were given was fairly wide. They were to look at a range of matters and develop a strategy that:

In July 2006 the consultants submitted their final report of findings to the Royal Borough.
The report runs to 60 pages (including appendices), but sets out three basic options for the future of Golborne Road. They are:
The consultants' favour option three and propose a very basic price tag of £2.9 million.

All three options, including the consultants' favored option, propose many changes that affect the delivery and operation of a number of council services and several council departments. Council officers are currently reviewing the service and financial implications of the proposals, and will be co-ordinating a response to Cabinet Members.
We will carry out formal public consultations, if the Royal Borough chooses to press ahead with any major changes to the look and operation of Golborne Road.
BDP is a major firm of planners, urban designers and architects who specialise in developing urban design and regeneration strategies for streets and town centres.
