Parking
Exhibition Road - north of Cromwell Road
Exhibition Road is a Restricted Zone with two way traffic along
the whole length of the road. Parking is prohibited anywhere in the
road except in marked parking bays. We do not need extra signs or
ugly yellow lines to enforce a Restricted Zone.
Metal studs in the granite surface mark out
Residents’ parking bays and Blue Badge bays and each bay is signed
to show which permit holders may park there. These bays are
restricted to the specified users 24 hours a day.
There is no visitor parking in Exhibition
Road. The nearest pay and display bays are in Prince Consort Road
and Queen's Gate.
Exhibition Road is partly in the Royal Borough
of Kensington and Chelsea and partly in the City of Westminster.
The boundary between the two boroughs is near the Science Museum so
some of the bays on Queen’s Gate have times of operation and
tariffs set by the City of Westminster. For City of Westminster pay
and display bays please see
http://www.westminster.gov.uk/services/transportandstreets/parking/wheretopark/onstreet/
In this area of Kensington and Chelsea, pay
and display bays cost £4 per hour and you need to pay for parking
between 8.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am to either
1.30pm or 6.30pm on Saturday depending on the location of the bay
(please check the nearest pay and display machine and on-street
signs for times of operation). Maximum stay restrictions of either
two hours or four hours apply.
Loading and unloading, including dropping off
and picking up of passengers, is only allowed between the two lines
of delineator tactile paving, which is situated four metres from
the building line on both sides of the road. All loading and
unloading, including dropping off and picking up of passengers,
must be continuous at all times. Vehicles are not allowed to park
and wait for passengers on Exhibition Road.
There are coach drop off and pick up
areas on Cromwell Road, outside of the V&A and the Natural
History Museum
Vehicles are not allowed within four
metres of the building line, as this area is reserved solely for
the use of pedestrians.

South Kensington
To make sure we meet the needs of local residents and
businesses as well keeping the area pleasant for pedestrians
we have to manage parking and loading properly.
The arrangements in South Kensington are:-

which means parking is prohibited at all times but loading and
unloading is allowed
- the western arm of Thurloe Street is a Pedestrian Zone.
Vehicles may not drive into this area unless they are loading and
unloading to nearby premises and only between 7am and 10am
- Exhibition Road between Thurloe Place and Cromwell Road remains
part of the Red Route network as before
- vehicles are prohibited at all times on the paved area on the
south side of South Kensington station
