Welcome to InTRANSIT Festival of Arts 2012, an exciting, fresh
and contemporary series of newly commissioned arts events
Each year InTRANSIT transforms the streets, parks and public
places of Kensington and Chelsea into a riotous feast of culture
and takes place between 13–27 July in Kensington
and Chelsea..
Now in its sixth year, it
again promises an interactive summer programme of
artist-led walks, interventions, promenade performances and
commissions that engage all ages.
The festival will explore the more hidden,
unusual and overlooked aspects of the borough through the
distinctive visions of an extraordinary range of artists working
across art forms.
Dramatic street theatre, puppet shows, art
installations and outdoor music and dance events will all be
available free of charge to local residents and visitors to the
borough.
In keeping with the spirit of the Olympics
many of the events combine artistic creativity with physical
activity such as parkour running, biking and walking.
Some of the highlight events for this year’s
festival will be a Portobello Road Arts Day, the Big Dance Bus on the
King’s Road and a large-scale three dimensional illusionistic
street painting by internationally renowned artist Edgar Mueller.
