The Local Safeguarding Children Board
In line with the Children Act 2004 the statutory Local
Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) formally replaced the
non-statutory Area Child Protection Committee (ACPC) in April
2006.
The core objectives of the Local Safeguarding Children's Board
(LSCB) are:
- To co-ordinate what is done by each person or body represented
on the Board for the purposes of safeguarding and promoting the
welfare of children in the area of the authority by which it is
established
- To ensure the effectiveness of what is done by each such person
or body for that purpose.
The following agencies are statutory partners in the LSCB, and
represented on the Executive Board:
The LSCB Executive meets four times a year and
is chaired by an independent chair, Sue Beer. A larger group, the
LSCB Partnership has representatives from a wider range of local
services, including the voluntary sector.
