How to get to the market

The best way to travel to the market is by public transport, as parking spaces in the area are very limited.

Approaching the market from the Portobello side

The tube is one of the easiest ways to get to the market. If you want to see the whole market from the south end of Portobello Road, take the Central line or the Circle line to Notting Hill Gate and leave the station by the north, Portobello exit.

The market is just a few minute’s walk from here. Once you’ve left the station go a very short distance westwards to the Pembridge Road turn (not to be confused with Pembridge Gardens, which is in the other direction). Go up Pembridge Road until you get to the turn off to Portobello Road on the left hand side. This is the beginning of the market.

Ladbroke Grove station, which is on the Hammersmith and City Line, is also very close to Portobello Road. After leaving the station, cross the road and continue south (away from the bridge) down Ladbroke Grove for a short distance until you come to your first left turn, onto Lancaster Road. This will bring you straight to the northern end of Portobello Road.

Buses 7, 12, 23, 27, 28, 31, 52, 70, 94 and 328 all stop close to Portobello Road – ask a driver for help if you’re in doubt.

Approaching the market from the Golborne side

Ladbroke Grove station, on the Hammersmith and City Line, is very close to Golborne Road. You can get to the southern end by crossing the road after exiting the station and walking north, going under the bridge. Chesterton Road will be the third turn on the left and will take you straight to the bottom of Golborne Road.

To start from the Northernmost end of Golborne Road, take the Hammersmith and City line to Westbourne park. Follow Great Western Road north under the bridge until you get to the left turn onto Elkstone Road. Turn left at the top of this road and you’ll be at the top of Golborne Road.

Buses 7, 23, 28, 31, 52, 70 and 328 all stop close to Golborne Road.
