Welcome to the Kensington and Chelsea Partnership website
The Kensington and Chelsea Partnership was set up in 2002 to
bring together local public organisations such as the Council, the
Police and NHS Kensington and Chelsea, to work alongside the
voluntary sector, business and community groups.
It aims to join-up services within the borough, plan locally for
the long-term, and improve quality of life in the borough,
especially in more deprived neighbourhoods.
A new Community Strategy for Kensington and Chelsea
A new Community Strategy for Kensington and Chelsea has now been
published by the Kensington and Chelsea Partnership. 'The Future of
Our Community, Community Strategy 2008 – 2018' is a collaborative
effort on behalf of the Council, the Police, the Fire Service, NHS
Kensington and Chelsea, voluntary organisations and the local
business community. You may be familiar with the previous Community
Strategy which was published in 2005. The new strategy contains
updated ambitions, aims and objectives and highlights new projects
and policy developments that have emerged since 2005, underpinned
by extensive public consultation.
A Picture of Our Community
The strategy is accompanied by ‘A Picture of Our Community –
Facts and Figures about the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea
2008’ which presents a range of the latest and key information,
statistical analysis and indicators to provide a comprehensive
picture of the Royal Borough and the people who live in, work in
and visit the borough. The document can be downloaded on
the Publications and Documents
page.
Delivering for Our Community
The Kensington and Chelsea Partnership has produced a delivery
plan for the newly published Community Strategy. The plan –
'Delivering for Our Community' – contains a set of performance
measures to show progress against the aims and objectives within
the Community Strategy, and sets targets for achievement in the
future. 'Delivering for Our Community' is also known as the full
new Local Area Agreement for Kensington and Chelsea and therefore
contains a set of targets negotiated with Government, called
‘designated’ Local Area Agreement targets (these are shown with a *
on the 'Delivering for Our Community' document).
'Delivering for Our Community' will be updated regularly to take
account of new performance data and information as this becomes
available. The Kensington and Chelsea Partnership will also publish
a progress report showing how well the Partnership is meeting the
performance targets in the plan, on an annual basis.
'Delivering for Our Community' is the second full Local Area
Agreement for Kensington and Chelsea.
Indices of Deprivation 2007
The Indices of Deprivation 2007 (ID 2007) consist of three
separate but related indices developed to identify areas where
disadvantage is concentrated.
The Indices are constructed by the Social Disadvantage Research
Centre at the University of Oxford for the Department of
Communities and Local Government (CLG).
The indices use statistical techniques to combine information on
economic, social and physical issues to produce scores for small
areas across the whole of England. These scores are then used to
rank these small areas according to their relative level of
deprivation.

Area (LSOA) maps please see Indices of
Deprivation 2007.
