Description

Upper centre of sheet: study for the wings of Pegasus in the painting 'Perseus and Andromeda' (c.1891, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool). The position of the wings is similar, but not identical to the finished painting. Lower far left of sheet: study of a folded left wing. Lower left of sheet: head and shoulders study of a female figure, facing the viewer, with shoulders turned to the right. The drawing is very faint, but part of a dress, necklace, and a wreath around the head appear to be indicated. Lower right of sheet: study of a right wing, as in flight
