Inscribed lower right "[illegible]" in pencil. Stamped lower left "LLC" encircled, in black ink. Inscribed on reverse, centre "L4" in pencil.
Left of sheet: study for the left wing of the angel in the painting 'Elijah in the Wilderness' (c.1878, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool). Just to the lower right of this is a study for the tip of the same wing. Right of sheet: study for the right wing of the angel in the same painting. Just to the lower right of this is a study for the tip of the same wing.
