Left of sheet: full-length study for a standing male figure facing the viewer for the fresco 'The Arts of Industry as Applied to War' (1878-80, Victoria and Albert Museum). Centre left of sheet: full-length study for the standing male figure putting on a helmet to the left of the fresco. Centre right of sheet: full-length study of a group of two male figures inspecting a helmet, probably related to the two male figures inspecting a sword to the right of the fresco. Far right of sheet: full-length study for a standing male figure turned to the right for the fresco.
