Description

Centre of sheet: full-length nude study for the figure of Samson, for the illustration 'Samson Carrying the Gates', for 'Dalziel's Bible Gallery' (1880-81). The gate Samson carries is also lightly sketched in. The feet are not seen as there is a rough indication of the landscape which covers them. Lower left of sheet: study of the left knee and part of the thigh of Samson. Centre right of sheet: study for the left hand of Samson.
