Stamped lower left "LLC" encircled, in black ink. Inscribed on reverse, centre "B86" encircled, in pencil.
Upper half of sheet: full-length study for the reclining female figure in the painting 'Flaming June' (c.1895, Museo de Arte Ponce, Puerto Rico). The pose differs to that of the finished work as the figure's right arm rests across the head. Also a chair, not included in the finished work, is indicated. Lower half of sheet: full-length study for the reclining female figure in the same painting. The pose is similar to the finished work although, unlike the painting, drapery covers the figure's head.
