Description

Full-length study for the nude male figure with back to viewer, being fitted with armour, to the left of the fresco 'The Arts of Industry as Applied to War' (1878-80, Victoria and Albert Museum). Unlike the finished work, the figure has both hands clasped behind the back, is turned more to the left, and looks down and to the left rather than over the left shoulder.
