Full-length study for the group of two reclining female figures to the lower right of the painting 'Cymon and Iphigenia' (c.1884, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney). The female figure nearest the viewer lies on her back with arms at head height. The head is propped up and turned towards the viewer. The left forearm rests over the eyes. The knees are bent and fall away from the viewer. In the finished work this figure is a female child and is seen curled up on the ground, with back to the viewer, feet to the left, and head resting on the second female figure.
