Interpretation
In 1906 this drawing was on display on screens in the Silk Room at Leighton House Museum
Centre of sheet: study of the stem of an asphodel plant with buds ad some flowers. Right of sheet: faint, rough study of three similar stems in flower.
Bequeathed by the artist to his sisters, Mrs. Augusta Matthews (n+e Augusta Neunburg Leighton, 1835-1919) and Mrs. Alexandra Orr (n+e Alexandra Leighton, 1828-1903); purchased by the Fine Art Society in 1896 (Fine Art Society reference number ?); purchased from the Fine Art Society by the Leighton Fund for ú3:3:0; presented to Leighton House Museum in by 1899
