Studies for the composition of the illustration entitled 'Drifting' to 'A Week in a French Country House' (published 1867, 'Cornhill Magazine') by Adelaide Sartoris.

Bequeathed by the artist to his sisters, Mrs. Augusta Matthews (n+e Augusta Neunburg Leighton, 1835-1919) and Mrs. Alexandra Orr (n+e Alexandra Leighton, 1828-1903); presented by Matthews to Mr. Sandercock in c.1896; by descent to his son, T. C. Sandercock; presented to Leighton House Museum by T. C. Sandercock in 1958
