Inscribed lower right "Aus der Gegend um Genf" in pencil which translates as "From the area around Geneva", possibly in the artist's hand.

At the extreme left are the towers of a church and other buildings can be seen dropping down the hillside to the lake. A second village can be seen on the right on the lakeside. In the foreground are two large trees, between which stands a bench.
