Interpretation

This study is for an alternative design for the illustration 'Death of the First Born'. The completed illustration shows the body of a adult, rather than a baby. There are two similar tracings for this version of the illustration at Leighton House Museum (reference numbers LHO/D/0484 and LHO/D/0855).
