Description

Full-length drapery study for the standing female figure to the left of Andromache in the painting 'Captive Andromache' (c.1888, Manchester Art Gallery). The study shows the standing female figure, in profile, facing to the right, holding a pitcher against the top of her legs. The face and pitcher are not indicated. 

Provenance

Purchased by Sir Robert Clermont Witt (1872-1952, author) from Rudolf (n.d.); bequeathed to the Courtauld Institute of Art Gallery in 1952.
