Interpretation
The inscriptions on this page include references to Giovanni Bellini (Italian Renaissance painter, c.1430-1516), 'Portrait of Sir Abraham Hume, 2nd Bt' (1783) (listed in 1876 'Catalogue of Pictures at Ashridge') by Sir Joshua Reynolds (painter, 1749-1838) and 'Aristotle with a Bust of Homer' (1653) by Rembrandt Van Rijn (Dutch painter, draughtsman and engraver, 1606-1669).
