Description

Page from a sketchbook. View of a garden with an arbour and a pathway beneath, leading towards an archway beyond. Vegetation, growing around the arch, is roughly sketched in. There is also a column to the right of the archway. The study is drawn within a frame as if it is an idea for the composition of a painting.

Purchased by the Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University, from Geoffrey Steele (antiquarian bookseller, c.1907-2000) from his bookshop at RFD 1, Mahopac, New York, in 1946 for $6.00.
