Interpretation
The inscriptions on this page are notes on Titian's method of working. There is also a reference to 'La Fornarina' (Portrait of a Young Woman) (c.1520) by Raphael Sanzio (1483-1520).
Purchased by the Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University, from Geoffrey Steele (antiquarian bookseller, c.1907-2000) from his bookshop at RFD 1, Mahopac, New York, in 1946 for $6.00.
