Description

Upper half of sheet: four studies for the reclining female figures in the painting 'The Dance' (c.1881-83, Leighton House Museum). Lower left of sheet: full-length study for the group of two girls to the right of the painting 'Music' (c.1883-85, Leighton House Museum). Lower right of sheet: full-length study of the group of three girls singing, to the left of the painting 'Music'. Lower centre of sheet: full-length study for the same group of three singing girls. The heads of the girls are bowed further than in the finished painting.
