Inscribed "Hit; Wedded; Bracelet; Projects". Stamped, lower left "LLC" encircled, in black ink. Inscribed on reverse "T52" encircled, and "i/i/-" in pencil.
Nine compositional sketches for various paintings. At the upper left corner of the sheet is a sketch for 'Wedded.' To the right of it is a sketch for 'Hit'. Below these, starting on the left is a sketch for 'Day Dreams'. To the right of that is a possible sketch for 'Melittion'. In the very centre of the sheet is another more detailed sketch for 'Wedded'. Just below that to the right is a sketch which is possibly a compositional sketch for 'The Bracelet.' Just below that to the right is a compositional sketch which may be for 'Flaming June'. In the lower left corner are two further unidentified compositional sketches. In the upper right hand corner of the sheet and along the right side of the sheet are various small scale figure studies.
Collection of Mrs. Emilie Isabel (Russell) Barrington (author and painter, 1844-1933); sold by Sotheby's in London on 1 December 1937 (lot 21); one of 12 drawings purchased for ú6 by F. R. Meatyard (dealer, fl. 1937-1954), six of the drawings (including this one) were sold for ú3 plus 10% commission to the National Gallery of Canada, with Paul OppT (scholar and collector) acting as agent in 1937
