Description

Study for the composition of the painting 'Amarilla' (c.1879, untraced). The drawing differs from the painting as the female figure is shown sitting on the wall, whereas in the finished work she stands and leans against it. Also, in the completed work, her left hand hangs loosely by her side and holds some fabric, whereas here she holds nothing, but both hands are placed either side of her, on the wall.
