Inscribed lower left "(59.3)" in pencil. Inscribed lower right "Flaming June no. 13" in pen and ink. The squares are numbered horizontally from 1-6.
Interpretation
This tracing is slightly more detailed than another tracing for the same figure, also at the Royal Academy (reference number 04/721) and is probably later.
Bequeathed by the artist to his sisters, Mrs. Augusta Matthews (nTe Augusta Neunburg Leighton, 1835-1919) and Mrs. Alexandra Orr (nTe Alexandra Leighton, 1828-1903); presented to the Royal Academy of Arts, London by Matthews and Orr in 1896
