Description

Left of sheet: full-length study for the standing female figure with one hand on her hip, seen to the right of the 'Jubilee Medal' (1887, Royal Collection). Centre of sheet: full-length study for the female figure holding a scythe, seen to the left of the medal. Upper right of sheet: full-length study for a group of two female figures. Lower right of sheet: full-length study for the group of two female figures seen to the left of the medal. Far right of sheet: full-length study for the female figure holding a sphere, seen to the left of the medal. 

Provenance

Bequeathed by the artist to his sisters, Mrs. Augusta Matthews (nTe Augusta Neunburg Leighton, 1835-1919) and Mrs. Alexandra Orr (nTe Alexandra Leighton, 1828-1903); presented to the Royal Academy of Arts, London by Matthews and Orr in 1896
