Description

Full-length studies of two female figures for the 'Jubilee Medal' (1887, Royal Collection). One study shows the seated figure leaning over to the right while looking back over her shoulder. The study on the right shows a similar figure from the side, with the right arm reaching up and the left arm holding a book. 

Provenance

Bequeathed by the artist to his sisters, Mrs. Augusta Matthews (nTe Augusta Neunburg Leighton, 1835-1919) and Mrs. Alexandra Orr (nTe Alexandra Leighton, 1828-1903); presented to the Royal Academy of Arts, London by Matthews and Orr in 1896
